Richard Munden, founder and CEO, began using and managing Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) systems in 1987. He has been concerned with simulation and modeling issues since then. Richard authored "ASIC & FPGA Verification: A guide to Component Modeling" published by Elsevier. He co-founded the Free Model Foundry in 1995 and is its President and CEO. He was recently CAE/PCB manager at Siemens Ultrasound (previously Acuson Corp) in Mountain View, CA. Prior to joining Acuson, he was a CAE manager at TRW in Redondo Beach, CA. He is a frequent and well-known contributor to several EDA users groups and industry conferences. Richard's primary focus over the years has been verification of board-level designs. Russ Vreeland became involved with EDA in 1987 at TRW. Moving away from a career in hardware design, he began doing modeling in VHDL and devising board-level modeling solutions using VHDL and VITAL in 1995. His experience formed the nucleus of the FMF modeling techniques and its modeling libraries. Russ was one of the founding members of FMF, but moved on to concentrate on emulation and hardware acceleration technologies at IKOS Systems in 1997 and later, at Broadcom Corporation. His work at Broadcom involved inventing a common simulation/emulation testbench strategy, and working with the Accellera Interfaces Technology Committee to devise standards for emulation testbenches. Russ is a member of the FMF board and contributes his considerable experience in verification to benefit the open source community.
John Willis, Member of the Board, has been using electronic component models to develop high performance computers and electronic design automation tools since 1981. He co-founded FTL Systems, a European/North American manufacturer of embedded, compact supercomputers and large-scale EDA tools. Since 1995 John has been FTL's CEO. Prior to FTL, Dr. Willis was a computer architect at IBM and Philips. He holds more than two dozen patents worldwide related to electronic system design and design automation. John has participated in the development of many standards within the EDA industry including VHDL, VHDL-AMS, and Verilog.
